What weโre about
We've been fortunate to have guest speakers on topics ranging from: Game Design, 3d web rendering, lowering infrastructure costs, private satellite communications, economic planning and development, education. We've had hands-on sessions and open conversations with space CEOs, Fortune sales engineers, artists, researchers and students.
๐พAWSelfTaught:RGC3 ๐๏ธโ๏ธ organizes hybrid virtual and in-person meetups on topics of interest around important and trending technology tools, Amazon Web Services, cloud computing, space, & satellite, or whatever learning topic piques our collective interest. We want to highlight projects built locally and raise awareness of technologies available to our region, while encouraging interruptions in the form of deep dive questions.
We hope to bring attention that brings real cash, dreaming of a $40M fund setup for area entrepreneurs and NPOs. Validation and support of technology tentpoles like Amazon will be critical to that endeavour, and as such we aim to raise competency and awareness on their toolchain. We believe that getting access to same tools used by a Fortune 2 company is an equalizer that ambitious individuals can use to compete with well funded silicon valley companies. We also believe that many of these technologies are more accessible than most people are aware, and this is why 89% of businesses still aren't utilizing cloud technology.
Focused on organizing events relevant to rural New Mexico and the Borderplex of Las Cruces / El Paso / Juarez, we are organized out of the Rio Grande Corridor, AWSelfTaught-RGC3 [Rio Grande Cloud Community (RGC3) ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐บ๐ธ] is an Amazon Web Services Users Group ๐๐ป
We are committed to highlighting garage builders, students, sole proprietorships, NPOs, Tribal Nations, and small businesses from our region. We also are committed to bringing in conversations on topics of Space and AWS at least once every 4 months each. These are community events organized by this community and around the globe, particularly embracing of English, Spanish and accessibility (i.e. ASL) focused content.
Feel welcome to ask random questions like "how does the cloud relate to my current technology skills? what can I learn from cloud professionals that I might not have heard in school? how does Alexa work? what skills will help me land a job? how can aws change my business? I've heard of Amazon, what is AWS?"
We host advocates and learners of all levels to talk about how we #BuildOn 200+ Amazon Web Services (AWS), including integrations and considerations into workstations, IoT networks, on-prem data centers, other clouds (Azure, Oracle, GCP), as well as other emerging technology tools and trends. We encourage those new to technology or cloud to check us out, and we encourage builders of all levels to bring 5-15 minute demos along.
Started at Arrowhead Research Park at New Mexico State University in 2021 to further the community learning, business awareness, student engagement, career opportunities, and general entrepreneurial-garage-hobbyist spirit. We aim to learn from, serve, educate, and entertain the diverse people of the Juarez MX/El Paso + Las Cruces USA Borderplex and surrounding rural areas.
