AWS Sheffield: November 2024

After a somewhat unintended extended summer break (sorry about that!) AWS Sheffield is back this November. Join us for our meet up where we'll be kindly hosted by Airwalk (https://airwalkreply.com) @ electric works (https://www.electric-works.net). We've got 2 fantastic speakers, a great venue, food & drink and the opportunity to meet & network into the evening.

Our first speaker of the evening is Damien Jones, Consultant at Steamhaus. In his talk Building And Automating Serverless Auto-Scaling Data Pipelines In AWS Damien will demonstrate a fully serverless auto-scaling data pipeline using AWS services including, Lambda, S3, Glue, Athena, Step Functions and EventBridge.

Second up we have Martin White, Senior GTM Storage Specialist, UKIR at AWS. Martin's talk AWS Storage Snapshot: Key Features, Optimisation, and Ransomware Resilience in 30 Minutes will cover AWS Storage in action with the latest updates on where AWS customers are gaining value from storage including real-world innovative solutions and projects. He will also dive into S3 cost optimization best practices as well as AWS's multi-layered approach to ransomware defence.
