What we’re about
Bloomington-Normal Ski & Social Club
Our purpose is to enjoy life by participating in social activities, trips and outdoor adventures. We have been a part of this community since 1967. In that time we have learned how to organize a variety of trips and adventures throughout the seasons. We also get together for frequent social gatherings and activities. Usually we have about 170 members in nearly 120 households. It is estimated that about 70% of the club members DO NOT ski. We are a diverse group of people who share a common desire for friendship and the great outdoors.
If you ARE NOT a current member of the BN Ski & Social Club, then there is 90 days free trial to join this “Meetup” Group. To remain within the “Meetup” Group, you will be required to join the club via https://www.bnski.org. Cost is $25 - Individual, $30 - 1 Adult Family or $35 - 2 Adults Family. If a Meetup member does not join club within the 90 days, then the Meetup member will be removed from the “Meetup” Group. NOTE: New members who join between February 15th and May 31st will have their membership extended until May 31st of the following year. This extension will only apply to a first-time member. Once you become a club member you will receive a weekly email that keeps members informed about all the upcoming activities and recent completed activities.
Do I have to know how to ski?
NO. We have always had members who never go on a ski trip as a skier, but go as an attendee. They also participate in the many other activities and gatherings we have throughout the year. But mostly they enjoy the spirit of friendship and fun. It is estimated that 70% of the members do not ski.
What does the club do?
Most of what we do fits into three categories, Ski Trips, Summer Trips and Social Activities. We also email a newsletter that keeps us informed about all the things coming up and letting us know about the things that have already happened.
Ski Trips
The main focus of our club is downhill skiing and we organize a variety of trips during the ski season. There are trips up to a week long going to major resorts out west and in Canada. There are also shorter trips to the Midwest resorts. We use the experience acquired over our many years to find the best places to ski and still take advantage of special rates and group discounts.
Summer Activities/Trips
(Summer to us is anytime we are not skiing)
There are many summer activities in which to participate. These include golfing, pickleball, canoeing, kayaking, biking, hiking, major/minor league baseball/hockey games and a variety of festivals/shows.
Social Activities
These include concerts, pub nights, wineries, potlucks, billiards, movie nights, theater, wine/beer tastings, trivia night, volunteering, and happy hour socializing. We also have , some activities on Zoom or other virtual platforms.
Something missing from this list?
Our officers and board members are always looking for new ideas for fun events and would be happy to listen to your suggestions.
