Experience the holiday magic and rich history of the Colorado Governor's Residence at the Boettcher Mansion with free guided tours led by History Colorado’s expert volunteer docents.
The Mansion transforms into a breathtaking holiday destination each year, inviting visitors to step into a world of festive elegance and historical significance. Guided tours offer a rare glimpse into the personal and public spaces of the Governor's Residence, showcasing its architectural grandeur and intricate design elements.
The docents, many of whom are local history enthusiasts, bring the mansion’s rich history to life through engaging stories and little-known facts about the building’s origins, its notable occupants, and its role in Colorado’s political and social landscape. As visitors move from room to room, they are treated to insights about the mansion’s transformation from the private Boettcher family home to its current role as the official residence of the state's governor. Along the way, the holiday décor provides a stunning backdrop, with each room reflecting the unique styles and traditions of the season.
These tours are more than just a visual delight; they offer a meaningful connection to Colorado’s heritage. Whether admiring the grand staircase, the exquisite craftsmanship, or the festive decorations, guests leave with a deeper appreciation of both the mansion’s history and the significance it holds for the state. The holiday tours provide a perfect opportunity for families, history buffs, and visitors of all ages to experience the magic of the season in one of Colorado’s most treasured landmarks.
The tours are FREE of charge thanks to the generosity of donors to the Governor's Residence Preservation Fund and the kind permission of the Office of the Governor
