A reschedule for previous week cancellation. It's been a while since we've hiked at Staunton State Park in the Fall. Let's try a new trail to me...Red Wall via Staunton Ranch Trail. This trail is described as moderately challenging, ~5 miles and ~1000 feet of elevation gain. This ‘hiker only’ trail is .5 miles uphill off of the Staunton Ranch Trail. It wanders through moderately rocky terrain through a beautiful timbered meadow and concludes at the summit of the Red Climbing Wall. Near the summit, the trail splits. We'll stay left to hike to the summit. The summit is rocky but relatively flat and its views are spectacular!

This is not a beginner hike due to the starting elevation of 8100 feet, rocky terrain and ~1000 feet of elevation gain. Poles could be helpful.

Parking: Park in the Ranch Hand Parking Lot to start the Staunton Ranch Trail. Get a map of the park or ask for directions at the entrance.

This is a dog free hike.

Directions to the Trailhead: From Denver drive South on US285 to Elk Creek Road/Schaeffer's Crossing to Staunton State Park. A State Park Pass or entrance fee required. Park in the Ranch Hand Parking Lot.

What to bring...Colorado weather changes quickly! Please come prepared with appropriate hiking clothing, waterproof boots, hiking poles, microspikes, backpack and food/water. Make sure you have extra layers in your pack in case you need it. Make it the best experience possible by being prepared!

Bring food, snacks and water to enjoy on the trail.

It's been a while since we gathered for Coffee and Conversation! Join us at the Denver Central Market, a gourmet marketplace and food hall in RiNo. Lots of seating and a great environment to socialize. A variety of local vendors with delicious food and drinks, including Crema Bodega Coffee Shop, Izzio Bakery, Provisions, Vero Italian, etc

Where to Meet: The group will sit at high tables located inside the market. Grab a refreshment and join us!

Come decked out for the holidays and join us for the Mile High Tree Lighting Ceremony! The aptly named Mile High Tree is a 110-foot-tall, 39-foot diameter conical structure. It's 10 feet higher than the tallest Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in history and contains 60,000 LED lights to create its signature programming. The tree features nightly free public light shows choreographed to multicultural holiday music and accommodating up to 140 guests at a time for an immersive viewing experience within the tree.

After viewing the tree, we'll stroll through the Christkindlmarket, a European village decorated for the holiday season. Enjoy an authentic Glühwein (mulled spiced wine), German Biers and hot chocolate, and nosh on Bavarian-style pretzels, fresh smoked salmon, Knödel, Goulasch, Nürnberger Sausages, pastries, caramels and European chocolates.

Join us for a night of holiday magic in Downtown Denver. Last year was so much fun and we had a perfect viewing spot! This parade features over 40 floats, balloons, marching bands, equestrian units, cultural displays, and special guest appearances from Major Waddles the penguin and Santa. Meet the group on the corner of 17th and Tremont across the street from the Brown Palace Hotel and down the street from La Loma Restaurant (see the MU map). Bring your own chair and dress for the weather.

Parking: Arrive early to secure street parking or park in a pay lot located near the Brown Palace. Feel free to research Valet Parking in the area.

Consider having dinner downtown early before the parade. I made a 3:45pm reservation for a table of 8 at La Loma located at 1801 Broadway (just a half block from our meeting place). Last year the restaurant was very busy and we had a leisurely dinner but got a slow start on getting a spot to view the parade. An early dinner allows us plenty of time to enjoy drinks and dinner before setting up our chairs! This dinner will be posted separately and you must RSVP to be included. Feel free to make your own reservation and plan your attendees off line. We will be too early for valet parking through La Loma (starts at 5pm).
