Name: Waw Giwulk Trail to Lions Ledge & Ladder Pitch (Baboquarvari Peak)

This is NOT a hike to Babo's summit which requires a technical climb with a rope and harness, but it is still a very challenging hike to Lion's Ledge and up to the base of the Ladder Pitch. We'll hike the Waw Giwulk Trail to Lion's Ledge and then scramble on up the Great Ramp to the base of the Ladder Pitch. Those who are uncomfortable with the steep, rock slab scramble up the Great Ramp may remain behind at Lions Ledge. Many groups go only that far. If you plan on going up the Great Ramp, make sure you wear boots with good, grippy tread.

Expect a long all-day outing with the 1:45" one-way drive time. High clearance AWD/4WD vehicle (Subaru/CRV/RAV4 or higher) recommended for the unpaved road to the trailhead at Baboquarvari Peak Campground. Number of participants may be limited by number of suitable vehicles available. Riders are to compensate their driver $15 each.

Meetup at the Park View Plaza at 1740 W Ajo Way on the NE corner of Ajo and Mission. Park closest to Ajo Way near Church's Chicken. We'll be departing at 7:30m so arrive a little beforehand.

A free permit is needed for each vehicle so we will need to arrange drivers ahead of time as the permit info has to be submitted in advance of our visit. I have the permit forms.
