Welcome to Bakers and Tasters! We are a Baking Club (AND EATING CLUB!)
Ladies, do you...
• Love to bake (sweet or savory)? OR....
• Love to eat sweet and savory baked goods?
• Love to socialize over coffee and tea?
...if you say "yes" to any of these questions, then this meetup group is for you!
For now, we will be scheduling a meetup once every month or two in DANVERS, MA. Don't be afraid of the wait list! Just throw your name on there! I can assure you that people sign up well ahead and then by the time the event rolls around, it dwindles down. In general, everyone gets to attend unless it's a special small event on rare occasion.
This meetup group is for ladies only - every night will be "ladies night"!
BAKERS - Do you need people to eat your experiments? Would you like a "cafe" style setting for people to enjoy your baking? If you are a baker (new or seasoned) and want a unique outlet for your baking while meeting new people, please join us! And on those occasional weeks when you don't feel like baking, or are too busy to bake, you can be a taster and simply come and enjoy!
TASTERS - Do you love to sit around a table with a cup of coffee and enjoy a sweet or savory treat in the evening while having the opportunity to meet new friends? Then please join us!
ANYONE ELSE - If you are not a baker and are not really interested in eating but love to meet new friends over a cup of coffee and would enjoy a monthly ladies night out, then by all means please join us!
DUES: This meetup group is FREE to join. There will be a contribution bucket at events and it is recommended that attendees contribute $2 - $5 per attended event. It is extremely helpful in off-setting the meetup costs (which continuously increase), and buying supplies. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated! If you want to know where your contributions are going, the finances are public and there is a link on the event page. You can see all of the startup costs and ongoing costs and how the past dues and contributions have helped to offset those costs.
I am very excited about this meetup! I have always enjoyed baking and I would do more 'recipe tweaking' and recreational baking if I had people to eat it on a regular basis. This will be a great outlet while meeting new friends at the same time! I am thoroughly excited about baking new recipes while meeting new friends over coffee!

Our cookie swap is a fun opportunity to bake some treats and go home with a huge variety! This year, we will be swapping gift cards instead of actual gifts (I went the easy route since I have been overwhelmingly busy!). Details below! Please read all of the instructions carefully - each attendee will need something to contribute to the cookie swap as well as the gift card swap!
COOKIE SWAP Instructions:
- Bake (or purchase if life gets busy and you must :)) 5-7 dozen cookies, candies, or treats. You may want to bake a few extras in case any are unusable, get dropped, or get eaten along the way (haha) just to make sure you have enough.
- Make 20 packages of 2-3 treats and make sure you have 20 leftover for tasting. If you are putting 2 in each pkg you will need 5 dozen. If you are putting 3 in each pkg you will need 7 dozen.
- Wrap each package of 2-3 cookies securely in saran, small ziplocks, or treat bags. When you arrive, there will be 20 boxes on the table. Put one package in each one. You should put the remaining treats on a tray, and these will go on the center tables for tasting!
- On the way out, everyone grabs a box with 20 different little packages. If for some reason you do not want to take home your box of cookies, I will take care of it. NO I don't mean I will EAT your cookies....I mean I will donate them, give them away, or use them.
GIFT CARD SWAP INSTRUCTIONS:
Our gift theme is $20 GIFT CARDS! Although simple, I think this will be fun especially if you keep the following in mind:- Even though you are spending $20 on a gift (perhaps a little more than past years), you will be getting an equal $20 back!
- If we are a little creative, it may make us all aware of new places to try! Perhaps a restaurant GC that you think someone will enjoy trying, or a favorite gift shop or cafe or dessert place! At the end of the evening we can go around and share our gift card places and perhaps there will be some interesting places to write down and try over the Holidays! :):)
- It's a super easy idea for busy peeps :) - PLEASE also include some sort of card. Put your gift card in a card, in an envelope, and put it on the gift table :). That way the GC is well hidden. If you want to write a little note, feel free!
There will be a table set up for the GCs (in cards, in envelopes) when you arrive. Place your gift on the table, and we will play a little game to exchange them later in the evening.
RSVP - If you sign up for this event and then realize that you can't make it, please give AS MUCH NOTICE AS POSSIBLE and change your RSVP right away. This event takes preparation. If people on the wait list are moved to the "going" list at the last minute, they will not have time to bake and shop and everyone will be affected. Please double check your calendars. Thank you!!! As a reminder, if you are a "no show" or if you change your RSVP last minute within 3 days of time sensitive / number sensitive events such as this one, or within 24 hours of a regular event, I may give your spot to someone else at the next event.
LEAVE A COMMENT: Be sure to leave a comment below with what type of cookie, candy, or treat you will be bringing for the boxes (so we don't have duplicates), but keep your gift card a secret! Again, please do not wait until the day before to comment. We need to hear from you a at least a few days prior so that we know how to plan.
