Let’s burn off some Thanksgiving calories with a hike at Soldier’s Delight! Please bring a positive attitude, water, and a sense of adventure. Guests are welcome, however they must be 18 years of age or older.
Please note, I’ve only hiked here once before so I don’t know the trails very well. I will need to check All Trails periodically. If this makes you uncomfortable, please do not come.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Loop hike about 5.25 miles total length at Soldier’s Delight Natural Environmental Area
- Average pace of 2.5-2.75 mph with breaks as needed
- Approximately 120-150 minutes of hiking including breaks
- One 15-minute break and shorter breaks throughout
- Moderate with varied terrain (hard-packed dirt, woods, rocks, roots, maybe some mud)
- About 600 feet of elevation gain and multiple hill climbs
- 4-5 moderate stream crossings
You will be parking in the lot of the Soldier’s Delight Visitor Center, there is plenty of parking.
We will meet up in the Solder’s Delight Visitor Center.
What to bring:
- Plenty of water (I recommend at least one liter)
- Snacks
- Hiking boots & poles if you have them
- Any medications / medical supplies you might need (ie epipen, asthma inhaler)
- Dogs are welcome on this hike but they must be well behaved and on lead at all times
If you RSVP for this hike but decide not to come, please update your RSVP, otherwise we will be waiting for you.
We will step off at 10:00AM to give everyone an extra 15 minutes to arrive & get ready. We will not wait past 10:00am. Please be on time.
This event will be cross-posted in Mid Atlantic Outdoors and Easy/Moderate Walking/Hiking in MD. Please only RSVP to one group.
