What we’re about
If you live in or near Bath or are simply enjoying visiting this beautiful city and the surrounding countryside with all that it has to offer then please read on:
I love Bath and the region and am looking for like minded souls, whether new to Bath and its environs or lifelong residents, to help make this meetup into a welcoming and rewarding social group in the area.
The aim of the group is to provide events that you will find enjoyable and sociable. These can for example include:
- Friendly get-togethers over coffee or drinks
- Trips to the cinema/theatre/pantomine etc
- Dining out
- Pub quizzes & games
- Entertainment/events such as bowling, music, comedy
- Walks/tours/occasional trips out
- Visits to festivals, exhibitions, art galleries, etc.
BATH SOCIAL GROUP MANTRAS
- It only takes a second to smile
- Quality is more important than quantity
- If at first you don't succeed, never mind.
JOIN BATH SOCIAL GROUP
If you want to try out the Group give it a go. You may never look back!
Anyone who thinks they might like to host one or more events is particularly welcome although that is not a requirement of membership.
EVENT ORGANIZERS WANTED!
If you might be interested in hosting an event then please feel contact me as Group Organizer with an indication of what type of event you would like to host. The more people contribute to hosting events, the greater and more varied the fun for everyone!
MEETUP ORGANIZATION COSTS
I personally bore the cost charged by the Meetup Organization for allowing the group to run on the meetup website for the first few months. Since then, active members have contributed voluntary donations to share the burden of the meetup website fee when required (the fee is currently equivalent to c.£200 p.a. though the sterling cost varies a little according to the exchange rate as it is in dollars) - I make an appeal to members for donations when our current funds run out.
BATH SOCIAL GROUP RULES
Members are required to observe the rules of the Group which aim to assist harmony and respect. The rules can be found at: Bath Social Group Rules.
BATH SOCIAL GROUP PAGES
From time to time Group Pages are created to cover particular aspects of the Group. These can be found at: Bath Social Group Pages.
ANY QUERIES
If you have any queries about the group please contact me!

Saturday Morning Book Club Guidelines
These guidelines apply to the Book Club events run on Bath Social Group by Dave on Saturday Mornings. Other Bath Social Group members are welcome to set up other book club events of their own on the Group if they wish to do so and can choose to follow these guidelines or create their own if they prefer a different format.1. This Book Club is a friendly informal gathering. Different views are welcome but please ensure you give others the opportunity to speak and treat others with respect.
2. If you are only part way through the book by the time of the meeting you are still welcome to attend but bear in mind there may be spoilers!
3. Whilst you do not have to have finished the book to attend, it is expected that you will have read enough of it to be able to make some contribution to the discussion, as the event is a book discussion group not simply a social gathering!
4. Books to be discussed are expected to be 21st century works of fiction available for purchase in paperback form (though participants can of course choose to read them in another format if they prefer). Ideally the book should not be too long (preferably less than 400 pages).
5. Suggestions for books to discuss are welcome and the aim of the Book Club will be to allow different members the opportunity to put forward suggestions.
6. The aim is for this Book Club to run monthly usually on a Saturday morning but with a break for December when people tend to become occupied by Christmas preparations.
