What we’re about

Battersea Badminton Club is a well-established and friendly club. On Sundays we play competitive badminton using feathered shuttles over three or four courts between 13:30 and 15:30

Most of our players play in the league for other clubs and use this session for training and practice, as well as the social element. Sessions are competitive, fun, and often loud! We occasionally host tournaments and have training sessions. These are also organised through meetup. Please look out for these and sign up in the usual way.

This is definitely not a club for beginners or low intermediate players. If you have been playing for only a few years and need a recommendation then please ask. We would expect anyone wanting to join to have been playing for at least 5 years but most have been playing for much longer and have been playing competitively. If requesting to join please answer the questions honestly. We won't approve you to the group until we are convinced that the standard will be right for you. Just replying with 'intermediate' may result in a 'decline'.

We understand that sometimes plans change, BUT we need to cover our costs and be fair to others on the waiting list who want to play. If you dropout after 10:30AM on the day of the session we would expect you to still pay the session fee as finding a replacement is not always possible. We believe this is quite reasonable and actually more accommodating than most clubs. Any no shows without even a message to me will result in an automatic ban, but this has never happened yet so please don't be the first. Most people pay electronically but you can bring cash with you instead. The bank details will be supplied to you before, during or after your first session.

We go to the pub afterwards, usually The Flag, who often put on free food on a Sunday afternoon. We spend a lot of time in there. You will be welcome to join us of course.

A couple of things to note. THERE IS NO WATER FOUNTAIN AT THE LEISURE CENTRE. Whilst I agree this is unacceptable, this has been the case for well over a decade and is unlikely to change. Please bring your own water. With regards parking, this is free at the leisure centre for up to three hours but you need to register your car details at reception when you arrive. Apparently they have been more strict on this in recent times
