What we’re about
Hello David Whyte Fans,
My enthusiasm for David Whyte, (recently refueled by the most recent livestreamed segements of his Oct 4 and 5th live retreat entitled BREAKTHROUGH | Finding The Narrow Creative Road Between Crazy And Brilliant.
has inspired me to to create the meet-up group I have been waiting for!
"David Whyte Unplugged".
A casual group of David Whyte fans getting together to read their favorite David Whyte or John O'Donohue poem (or another poet you might have been exposed to from a David Whyte reading.(
We will meet once a month with a rotating host.
To kick it off, the monthly host will pre-post a David Whyte poem or essay to be read by the host (or their proxy if they want to avoid speaking in public) at the meeting.
This will be followed by members (optionally) sharing the impact the reading (or a particular section) had on us..
That will be followed by a social snack for 15 minutes.
We will finish up with other attendees reading aloud a favorite DW or related poem that they brought to read that night.
Target meeting length is about 90 minutes.
Optional coffee house afterward for those who want to continue the discussion.
Get in on the ground floor. Help me pick a time and place.
My first thoughts are a meeting room at the Rockridge Library.... accessible to SF, East Bay, Oakland, Walnut Creek, Berkeley and Albany by Bart. However, if more interest is coming from Marin and Sonoma County, happy to form a second one up there... or shift the location.
The date and time will be determined by those who respond. (See questionaire)
The flavor of the meeting will lean toward humor, vulnerability, and connections with others as well as ourselves.
Our intention is to leave the meeting feeling alive, lightened or enlightened (haha) and connected.
Leaders will rotate from month to month. Optional Zoom attendance.
This is a new group. Once we have the location of a core of interested members, we will set a convenient location at the most convenient rec center, coffee house, library, or church.
I look forward to meeting other David Whyte fans!
