Join us for an almost-sunset hike - we explore Sibley from the Skyline side! On a clear day, this hike also features panoramic views of the surrounding hills, valleys, and cities below. This hike will be on a mixture of forest, gravel, paved trails. We will take Skyline trail through a lovely forested area, have a full on **350 ft incline incline** on Quarry Road (which is paved) to Volcanic trail, where we will enjoy the view, visit the labyrinth and return via Round Top and Skyline trails. This is a Moderate + hike (with a Moderate + pace) and there are some ascending uphill segments on the hike (\~750 ft elevation change). Most of the trail is exposed so dress accordingly. Due to the shorter distance of this hike, we will not be stopping for a snack break.

LOCATION: We are meeting on the stairs in front of the visitors center at the Sibley Park Main Staging Area.

PARKING: If the main lot is full, you can park on Skyline Blvd.

DOGS: This is a dog-friendly hike with room for a *limited amount of friendly dogs.* Please PM me about ANY dogs attending **AHEAD** of time and I will send you the (easy) dog rules if there is room. If you have brought your dog before, please still let me know so I can make sure there is room.

HIKING LEVEL - This is a MODERATE+ hike. You should have some previous hiking experience and be in good physical condition. While there will be time for pictures, please be considerate of the group's pace.

BRING:

* Hiking shoes or boots with traction.
* Long pants (there's poison oak on narrow trails)
* Layers (it can get windy in the open areas)
* At least 1 liter of water
* Poles are not needed, but may be nice if you have them
* Post-hike Snack

ATTENDANCE POLICY: Please be respectful. No-shows and late cancellations are only ok in extenuating circumstances. If your plans change, we request that you update your attendance AT LEAST 48 hours as a courtesy to the group. We intentionally keep our hikes small. Please do not take a limited slot if you are a "maybe" or if you aren't sure if you can come, as that takes the spot of a hiker that can attend. Last-minute RSVP changes to “no” (without explanation) are counted as no-shows. If you are a no-show two times, you will be removed from the group.

WAITLIST: If a hike is full, contributors will take priority coming off the waitlist. If you are on the waitlist, please be sure to check if a spot opened before the hike. Please remove yourself from the waitlist 48 hours or more before the hike if you can no longer attend, so you do not take someone else's spot if one opens. Waitlists can move quickly, and spots often open before the hike, so please check often, including the day before, to see if you are on the hike.

CONTRIBUTIONS: We are asking members for voluntary annual contributions (once per year) to sustain the group. Unfortunately, Meetup is not free and our volunteer team is working hard to plan activities for our incredible community.

Our suggested annual contribution is $20-30. ***Please include your user name when you contribute.***
