What we’re about
Hi! I'm Chandler and I'm an employed student. I had this idea to create a virtual group where Black and African youth (REGARDLESS of background) AND adult supporters spanning multiple industries and backgrounds could come together and discuss...*big sigh*...the state of our nation (as in Black/African people). We are in a multi-level, nationwide crisis with LOUD repercussions and, in opinion, the adult leaders we apparently have are just not responding with the urgency we need to truly address many of them. We need to talk and read and overall just relearn how to effectively work together towards a common goal so we aren't left in the social underclass graveyard without a voice or a means to bring about our own order after a time. I believe in us and MATURE supporters (+ accountability, consistency and innovation) and I'm not one to shy away from the truth. My hope is that this group will reflect these values over time. That said, I'll conclude by providing the one rule I would like everyone to follow:
If you truly care about change, please plan to attend at least one virtual meeting a month and also, bring your skills up when you introduce yourself (or an area you believe you'd be most useful) so I can catalog it as time goes on and we can try to tap into each other to get things done...
Once we have our first meeting, we can discuss this and a few other rules and move from there! I'm looking forward to meeting you all !
