This is an intermediate--advanced trail running event. There is a lot of climbing. We'll be fast hiking steep uphills and running all easier climbs, flat sections and (most) downhills. We will move at a moderate running pace.

this is technical trail running - lots of roots, slippery rocks, obstacles. In other words - fun!!

Although this is not a fast run, you should be able to run at least 15 km without breaks.

clockwise loop - from firehall lot to sugar mtn, thru Diez Vistas, down to lakeview trail and back to cars

Pace: fast-hike uphills, then start running flats/ downhills.
Distance: \~17 km
Cumulative elevation gain: 970 metres
Estimated time: 3.5 hours

Safety: While we will look out for each other please remember that you are ultimately responsible for your own safety so come prepared.

Level of fitness: Please ensure that you are fit enough to join these events. All of them require a good level of cardio, stamina and strength as there is usually steep, long uphill sections on most hikes and you will need to be able to keep up to the group. If you are unsure of the group pace level, message the organizer to confirm the group level.
***This is NOT a beginner’s run*** If you cannot keep up, we expect you to be fully prepared and know the route. (see above)

What to bring:
*10 essentials (including essential first aid supplies*)
trail runners
Headlamp and spare batteries
Water-proof/ wind-resistant Jacket
Layered Clothing
Water and food
positive attitude and kickass spirit preferred

* trail running can often involve slips and falls. expect them and carry reasonable stuff to deal with injuries.

Carpooling:
Please carpool to events whenever possible.
Do not expect a free ride to to the event. If someone is driving you to an event - offer to CONTRIBUTE to the cost of gas each time. The high cost of gas and maintaining a vehicle make this a sensible option for vehicle owners and allows those without a car to get to the events. IT SHOULD BE A BENEFIT TO BOTH PARTIES - the driver gets a little assistance to offset the cost of driving to events and the passenger gets a ride. It is suggested that passengers offer the driver $5 per hour of driving (includes mileage and vehicle wear & tear). This is only a guideline and the driver may charge more or less depending on the situation. Please state in your RSVP whether you can offer a ride or need a ride, and where you will be coming from. Passengers, please ensure you show up on time and bring cash, an extra bag for wet/muddy footwear and clothing.
