BTB Monthly Bike Ride: Allegheny River Trail with Waterfall Sidequest

Details

Please join Chris and Beth as they host a 26 mile Bike ride on the Allegheny Trail. This route is all paved, and will include an adventure through 2 old railroad tunnels. These tunnels are not illuminated, so it is requested you have bike lights, or a flashlight, or stay close to the group as we cruise through the tunnels.

The Ride will begin on the Allegheny River Trail in Emlelton, PA. Highlights of the ride include:

Mile 0-6: We will be on the beautiful Allegheny River Trail traveling next to the Allegheny River.

Mile 6: As we approach mile six, we will venture through the Rockland Tunnel.

Mile 6-6.5: Here is where we will take a side quest. We will venture off the trail for .5 miles, and venture to see Freedom Falls, one of the top ten waterfalls in PA. Note: this is a gravel road, and the only significant incline on the ride. But since it is only .5 miles, if you are unable to ride, we can walk up the hill to explore the falls. Note - there is an old furnace here as well to explore.

Mile 7 -12: More cruising on the Allegheny River Trail

Mile 12-13: We will go through our second tunnel, the Kennerdale Tunnel.

On Mile 13, we can take a short break, have some snacks, and then head back.

Note: this is a 26-27 mile ride. We will do our best to keep everyone together, but the expected pace will be 10-12 mph to ensure we have enough time to complete the ride. Please bring water, and note the ride is self supported in regard to tools and bike maintenance.

The Meeting Point will be: 714 Main St, Emlenton, PA 16373. There is a small brewery we can also go to after the ride if interested: Emlenton Brew Haus 610 Main St, Emlenton, PA 16373
