Midweek walk and Xmas Lunch: Aldbury to Cow Roast walk

The walk will be followed by the option to join us for a Xmas meal at The Greyhound. As I'll need to book tables in advance please pay a deposit of £10 through the usual methods immediately when you RSVP.

This is a 5.5 mile walk which take about 2.5 hours. The walk is mainly flat with an uphill rise to the Ashridge woods. We begin in the picturesque village of Aldbury and set off towards Tring Station and on to the Grand Union Canal. We leave the canal at Cow Roast then walk uphill into the Ashridge estate woods, past Aldbury Common and the visitor centre then downhill back to Aldbury where we can enjoy a warm welcome in The Greyhound.

There is some parking in front of the pub but there is much more space along Trooper Road which is opposite Stocks Road. The full address for the pub is Greyhound Inn, Stocks Rd, Aldbury, Tring HP23 5RT.

Please note that this walk is not led by a qualified leader and, as such, isn't covered by insurance. Be sure to wear suitable boots and clothing. The organiser cannot be held responsible for any injuries, however caused. Members are expected to take responsibility for their own preparation and safety including adequate fluids, weather protection and a snack. Please be sure to make me aware if you have any medical conditions.

Dogs are welcome as always but please be mindful to keep them on leads for roads and around other animals.
