This is open to all, especially new people to the group.
We appreciate how daunting it can be as a new person to join an established group and we want to reduce that anxiety and make people feel as comfortable as possible.
The outline plan is:
- Car share where possible and meet in the Moon Inn on the Friday evening
- Saturday: Edale Edges taking in some iconic sights
- Saturday evening: Someone will make a delicious homecooked meal, which will cater to most dietary requirements. Chief Bottlewasher Steve will wash up assisted by others
- Sunday: a shorter walk followed by lunch back at the hut. Everybody joins in cleaning the bunkhouse and then we go home
One of the things that makes me proud of this group is the roughly 50:50 split between male and female participants. That's a regular feature. Just look at some of the past photos.
The weekend will be led by Phil who is a fully qualified and experienced Mountain Leader who runs the weekends/group to Outdoor Industry standards. Phil is also a qualified Outdoor First Aider. Phil is not paid a wage to do this and this is a 'not for profit' group. When we started this we wanted it to be as inclusive as possible and that means keeping costs as low as possible.
Hence why we stay in a bunkhouse and have shared meals. If you don't like the sound of staying in a bunkhouse you can stay in a B&B and join us for the walks and meals.
The cost for the weekend is £82.18 comprising a RSVP fee of £25 through Meet up (plus PayPal fee of £2.18) plus £55 one month before the event. This will cover:
- Shared accommodation in a bunkhouse so you need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow
- 2 breakfasts of porridge, berries and honey
- Two course evening meal
- Contribution to group costs such as Meetup fees, insurance, group box with tea, coffee and other stuff, equipment, recces, first aid training etc.
If you have any questions then please drop Phil a message and ask.
