What we’re about

[Updated, 09.01.24]

#WildReaders, get ready for an exciting and adventurous reading experience in 2024! Our beloved Wednesdays will continue to be full of mini-games, deep discussions (always!), and maybe in-person silent reading hangouts (see you at Malongo?).

To keep us looking forward to new reads, here is what to expect from us in the upcoming year:

  • January - "TBR or not TBR?" A book from your to-be-read pile.
  • February - Here be dragons! Slay a book, errr dragons, or both.
  • March - A book that made you sing. One that inspired a song or a book that was inspired by a song? (Yep, Hozier and Inferno, anyone?)
  • April - A book that you said you'll never read. Remember: You can't hate someone (thing?) up close.
  • May - Flower-inspired novels. There's a garden of them out there!
  • June - Rainbow-reads meets Juneteenth. A book from a queer, BIPOC writer.
  • July - A book with an interesting title. Think: book-selection, online dating style.
  • August - A book that makes you want to ugly cry. Because short month = big feels.
  • September - #DespedidaEdition. Favorite books my our #WildReaders from the world over!
  • October - Ever read a cozy mystery? Well, time to read one!

And in November, there'll be no books to read, just books to swap. Folks, get ready for a potluck and literary pecha kucha night with book exchanges.

Excited to begin a new reading year with you,
M.

The BGC Book Club Guidelines:

  1. The monthly book will be announced at least four weeks before the event. Each event will be capped to 20 members attending to allow us to discuss the book in small groups and get to know one another!
  2. There is no expectation to finish the book, we are here for good conversation and company
  3. Two no-shows will result in a ban from the group. We understand that things come up last minute, but please be courteous and let us know if you cannot make it to the book club.

About the BGC  Book Club:  Discuss great books with like-minded individuals. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and explore one of the many restaurants in and around BGC (post-pandemic). Follow us on Instagram @bgcbookclub
