July 12-18: Cheney, WA – Plummer – Wallace – Coeur d’Alene – Cheney

This route showcases two of the best bike trails in the West. After a taste of the Palouse wheatfields going to Plummer, we’ll hop on the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes – 65 miles of former railway that is a world-class trail. The first 20 miles to Harrison are jaw-droppingly beautiful in particular. That’ll take us to Wallace, a rough-edged but charming historic mining town, where we’ll have a layover route up into the forest over Dobbins Pass and then follow the meandering Coeur d’Alene River back. The ride from Wallace to CdA (as the locals call it) features spectacular views of Lake CdA from a low-traffic road above. We’ll lay over in CdA, with a back-road loop option and/or the chance to explore one of the prettiest towns in the West. And on the final day we’ll take the Centennial Trail to and through Spokane - which offers some serious visual highlights - then connect to yet another bike trail back toward Cheney.

After a whole lot of riding, driving and deliberating, we decided that there aren’t seven days of riding available that are up to BRNW standards, so this will be a six-day tour.
