Hiking weather is back! This one is Cinderella: not too easy, not too hard, not too short, not too long. I will likely be lagging on the way back with my bum knee; but with a good pace, you will be back in slightly over 2 hours. It will be chilly on the Green Valley Truck trail (mostly shaded) so dress in layers! We will be warm once we get to the Lake Poway loop trail.

Intermediate level, about 5.5 miles with a moderately fast pace for about the first three-quarters. 750' EG, including a moderately difficult climb up to dam level. The rest is just a nice relaxing walk with some smaller ups and downs.

The hike starts near where the parking lot ends. In about a mile, we turn onto the Lake Poway loop. Halfway around the lake, we'll take a halt for a great photo op (and some NSAID gel for my knee). We'll continue our circle around the lake, and return to the Green Valley Truck trail back to our cars.

Boots are highly recommended for the patches of loose rock, and poles will be helpful on the downhill sections. Bring water and sun protection.

\*\*\* The parking lot fills up quickly, so allow time to find a spot! \*\*\* If nothing is open, park in one of the residential areas nearby and walk in. There is no street parking on Espola Road. GPS coordinates 33.017424 -117.024858 Exit I-15 at Rancho Bernardo Road eastbound (reset your trip odometer here). Proceed 3.4 miles. The road name changes to Espola Road somewhere along the way. The entrance is on the left.

Meet at the very end of the parking lot near the kiosk and porta-potties. We will do introductions at 8:35, or sooner if everyone is present, and then start walking. "Real" rest rooms are at the concession building. There are also porta-potties scattered along the lake loop trail.

A suggested location for carpooling is the Pomerado Village shopping center: SW corner of Rancho Bernardo Road and Pomerado Road.

Friendly dogs on max 6' leash leash are allowed. Please check the Poway Parks & Rec website for their rules. MY rules: Fido must be dog- and people-friendly and not present any kind of safety hazard, you must pick up after him/her, and you must bring enough water for both of you.
