Shopbot CNC theory and practical

This course is necessary for new users of the Shopbot CNC at Bitraf to establish baseline knowledge & safety standards that everyone can expect from each other.

It will be held in English.

This course is fills up quickly - be the person that signs up and takes the opportunity to join a course seriously. If you don't turn up, you take away the opportunity to learn from someone else. Book the course time & date in your calendar, even if you're on the wait list. It is very common to get bumped up as the course date/time approaches.
Signing up to the wait list means you take on the responsibility to check the event daily (even on the day of/hours before the event) and the possibility to turn up at short notice. If you know it's likely you won't have the time anymore, please change your RSVP to 'no' to remove yourself from the wait list as soon as you're aware.

** IMPORTANT **
This course is for paying Bitraf members only. It's a free course, but if you RSVP 'yes' and don't actually show up, you'll be fined 300 kroner, as an extra compensation to the course organizer.

We start in the lab for the theory and move up to the practical section in the workshop after.

Things to do before the course;

• Install Dropbox (for transferring files to the CNC machine as memory cards or USB sticks cannot be used)
• Get safety gear - (eye, hearing protection & dust mask)
  Bitraf has eye and hearing protection you can borrow, and a shop (Bitmart) that you can buy dust masks from if you wish
• PC / Mac (with Parallels/Bootcamp) with vCarve. Vetric (makers of Vcarve) are changing how the maker-space license is working - now you have to have your own vcarve account and Bitraf has to register your account with their vcarve account.

Upon completion of course you will have Shopbot CNC access via the p2k16 ‘TOOLS’ system. This enables use of the machine to be logged.
