My name is Alicia, and I’m a lifelong writer and published author passionate about building a community of Black women writers in Hawaii. My goal is to create a supportive space where we can share our writing, offer constructive feedback, and move our writing projects forward.
This group began as a Facebook inquiry a few weeks ago. Since then, we’ve transitioned to a private group chat via text and Zoom calls. I also created a Meetup account to expand our circle and connect with more writers. Unlike write-together groups (which already exist on Meetup), this group focuses on sharing and critiquing each other’s work in a safe, supportive environment.
On December 7, I’m hosting a second intro session for those seriously interested in joining. During the session, I’ll introduce myself and explain how the critique group works. There’s no cost to join at this time—this is currently a passion project. In the future, there may be a small fee to cover Meetup subscription costs, but for now, it’s free.
To join the critique circle, all participants will need to complete a quick survey and attend an intro session. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
