**Please join us for this moderate paced mixed trails 5.5 mile hike up Buck Hill and back.**

Re: the hike:

\*No guests are permitted on BHHC hikes.

\*No dogs on this hike, please.

\***Required: please bring a pack (fanny or back) with at least 1 liter of water or other drink.** Also recommended: nutritious snacks for endurance energy, electrolytes (Nuun tablets or EmergenC packets dissolved in your water provides helpful energy boost), sun screen, and bug spray (mosquitoes, ticks, etc. Permethrin sprayed on your boots and clothing is the most effective re ticks.) Please dress in layers so you can adjust your comfort, and make sure you are wearing appropriate shoes - hiking boots preferred. Hiking poles are also helpful for stability.

The pace will not be super fast, but also not a gentle stroll in the park, so if you are looking for a slow stroll, this is not the hike for you. To participate, you must be able to keep up the 2.5 mph pace for roughly 2.5-3 hrs (including breaks), for 5.5 miles.

We will start out on the Red Dot Trail (getting there via "Naomi's Secret Trail"), take that to the Skyline Trail to summit Buck Hill. We will pause there for snacks/lunch and lovely view of Boston Harbor and Skyline, then head down an unmarked gentle trail for our descent to the White Triangle Trail. We will then follow the White Triangle Trail back to the Red Dot and take that back to the parking area. This hike will involve some short sections of steep hills, though mostly flat with gently rolling terrain, and parts of the loop will have sections with small rocks.

We will meet at the children's playground end of Houghton's Pond parking lot at 9:00a.m, and will leave promptly at that time, so please plan to get there in time to be suited up and ready to hike at 9:00.
