I try to do this hike every year (its one of my favorite hikes) and time is getting limited, so figured it was time?

The Channels: This is a 6.4 mile out and back hike and considered moderately strenuous. Highlights include gorgeous views, unique rock formations, and a beautiful rhododendron tunnel.

Afterwards, I make it a point to visit Puerto Nuevo Mex & Seafood in Abingdon for a beer and great food. It is just a few minutes up 81 when leaving The Channels.

Carpooling: We can meet at Exit 140 (Salem) Park & Ride. This is a large lot right off of 81. We can meet there at 8:00 am.
For those going ahead, we will stop at Exit 50 for bathroom break and just to meet up with others, if there are others? We should be there around 9:45/10:00. If this is what you're planning on doing, please let me know.

Parking: Please be aware that parking is limited to 10 cars at the trailhead. If there are 10 cars there, we will need to wait. Another reason carpooling is a good idea, to limit the number of cars.
