We meet at the back of the store, beyond the games for sale. Look for the "Meetup" sign.

This meetup is for playing competitive, medium to heavy board games that may last up to four hours (including the teach). The games may be "serious", but the players should still be friendly. While the focus is on competition, the experience should never be about winning or losing, but enjoying the struggle, in a spirit of good sportsmanship.
Priorities for games:
1. Competitive. Cooperative games are not banned, but the group should mainly be playing competitive games, including certain team games, such as Concordia Venus or Spades. Decrypto and Codenames, while party games, are also acceptable for being team games on the thoughtful side. Most social deduction games, like Werewords, are not acceptable, as they are mainly in the party category.
2. Medium to Heavy games. Lighter, family games and party games are not banned, but the focus here is on the games that are not considered light, or for parties. They should require more in strategy, tactics, or skill than the basic, mass-market games found at Wal-Mart. For example, Ticket To Ride and Machi Koro are borderline (acceptable), but more appropriate are games like Root, Race For The Galaxy, Woodcraft, Orleans, Mottainai, Modern Art, Five Tribes, and Unmatched. That being said, this is not a group for the heaviest war games. Undaunted is fine, but Fire In The Lake belongs in a different group.
3. Longer games, up to four / four and a half hours. Playing several short games is fine, but players need to be willing to play longer games as well. Of course we can take breaks, so it's not as bad as some people think. Examples include On Mars, Shogun, Eurorails, Tawantinsuyu, and Caverna.
Depending on the number of players, we may have two or even three games going, with 2 to 6 people per table. If you sign up and have to cancel, please RSVP or call someone. If you plan on attending, please sign up, and observe the limit of 8 people. It can be very crowded when other events are held at Game Kastle, but so far, we have been able to grab the last two available tables. Suggestions are welcome for a better venue.

This WEEKLY MONDAY meetup is for those who already know to play American Style Mah Jongg, know how to play per National Mah Jongg League Rules (no table rules, strictly NMJL rules) and are able to play independently. Whether you're fairly new to the game or a long-time player, come join this friendly group of players.

To play you will need the 2024 National Mah Jongg League Card. If you have a complete mah jongg set that includes the 152 tiles, (with the 8 jokers), 4 racks, pushers and a pair of dice, please post if you are able to bring your set to play with on game day IF NEEDED. If you have a pad for the table, please bring that too, if you can.

The group will have the use of the back room. Due to the limit of players, if you sign up, please be considerate of all, and make sure you show up.

Play starts promptly at 12:30pm. Please try to be on time and keep your RSVP's current. Those who are no-shows 2 times without contacting the organizer prior to game time, or cancel last minute 3 or more times will be asked to not sign up again, and will be moved to NOT GOING status. This is out of respect for the other players. Please plan on staying for the 3hr period unless you have a previous scheduled appointment.

If there are not enough players for a table signed up by 10am game day, I will contact players signed up to cancel.

GUESTS: You are welcome to bring a guest if they meet the criteria to play and space permits. If you are visiting the Greenville area you are welcome to join us during your stay here.

PLAYERS, please do not put any drinks on the tables while playing and NO CELL PHONES please. Please keep cell activity down to EMERGENCIES only. Players are asked that they not bring food to the tables, if you need to eat something, please take a break. Boardwalk has drinks and snacks for purchase, and appreciates in helping support the store, and it's employees.

Please leave talk about politics and religion at the door. We are there to have fun.

Group prefers that all players be fully vaccinated with the Covid vaccine.

Join us for our monthly Game Night! We meet at The Cave on the last Monday of every month. We'll be there from 6–9 p.m. playing all kinds of great board games. We'll bring a giant stack from our collection (mostly hot new ones, a couple of classics, and usually a few prototypes or unreleased games). The Tantrum House crew will be teaching and playing all night and you're more than welcome to bring games from your personal collection too!
