This will be our annual White Elephant gift exchange, hosted by Amber!

We'll get started at 5:00PM sharp. Beforehand, you'll need to check your gift in and receive a number which will be your order in the exchange. Please have arrived, gotten your drinks, and come to a stopping point for any games you may be playing.

To keep things from getting too out of hand, participation is limited to the first 30 people who check in.

**Gifts must be something:**

* Between $20-$30, and something you would not mind getting yourself.
* Related to the interests of the group, such as board games, puzzles, and books.

**Not permitted:**

* Anything with an expiration date, or a best-buy date, or a best-used date, or similar.
* Food and drink, make-up, hair and/or skin products, medicine (prescription or otherwise), and anything obviously illegal are not permitted.
* No Amazon or Visa giftcards, and no cash. (Gift cards for small businesses such as Mugs and Park Road Books are completely fine.)

**Rules:**

* Each player should have a number prior to starting the game.
* On your turn, you can either open a new gift from the table or steal an already opened gift from another player.
* If your gift is stolen in this way, you can steal another opened gift or open a new one from the table. A gift may be stolen only once per round.
* No one player can be stolen from more than three times. After you are stolen from three times, you keep the next gift you get and are out of the game permanently. Keep track of how many times you have been stolen from.
* The round ends when someone declines to steal a gift and instead opens a new one. We then resume taking turns in numerical order.
* We continue like this until we get to the last person/number.
* After we go through all the numbers, the first person can choose to steal a gift, or keep what they have already.

Aside from this, it'll be our usual gaming at Mugs!

Our group tends to play longer and/or more in-depth games. Some of our favorites include Terraforming Mars, Carcassonne, Seven Wonders, Dominion, and Splendor. These games and others can require a time investment ranging from thirty minutes to multiple hours. Don't let this scare you off--we are always happy to teach games to new players!

We generally tend to get started by 3:15, though some groups begin sooner. Please be aware if you arrive after that time, you might not be able to jump into a game for a while.

There are usually several tables running different games that will end at different times. A second, third, or even fourth round of games will be played as time allows.

The venue does stay open beyond its public hours to accommodate our group. Please patronize the establishment. They have no problem with bringing in outside food (such as sandwiches or pizza) but purchase your drinks in house.
