Greenbelt Wheels and Vines Cycle Adventure

Join us for a fun, social and scenic 25 km cycling journey through Cape Town's stunning Greenbelt. During this trip, cyclists will enjoy some breathtaking views of Table Mountain and the Constantiaberg. Challenging uphill climbs and thrilling descents through evergreen forests on picturesque trails can be expected on this short mountain biking adventure. A combination of mixed terrain like tar, gravel and single track, only suitable for mountain bikes, joins places like the Sillery trail, Grootboskloof, Lower Tokai, the historic Groot Constantia Wine Estate, Die Hel, Dieprivier, Brommersvlei Wetlands and lastly the Silverhurst trail.

Basic agenda:
Starting from Peddlars, we take the Sillery trail and cycle all along the Keysers river, passing Grootbos Kloof and The Secret Forest Cafe in Lower Tokai. Next follows a few tar roads that bring us to Klein Constantia Road and eventually Groot Constantia. Here we take a break to explore this historic wine estate or perhaps visit the wine and gift shop.
Groot Constantia has a network of two rivers, natural wetlands, and a dam. Enjoy the indigenous Fynbos garden surrounding the dam, where a healthy aquatic habitat promotes fish breeding.
After a decent break at Groot Constantia, we head further uphill on Constantia Main Road until we turn off at Die Hel. A short section through this spectacular forested area leads to Southern Cross drive where we turn towards Dieprivier. Next follows Brommersvlei Wetland Park and Silverhurst Trail. After crossing Constantia Main Road again, we return back to Peddlars passing by Lane Stables and Japhta's Flower Farm. Back at Peddlars we end this lovely day with some cool refreshments.

Requirements:

• Moderate fitness level
• Mountain bike suitable for mixed terrain like tar, gravel, and single track.
• Safety gear and hydration recommended
• A good attitude to pedal, sip and soak up the scenic views.
