What we’re about
This is an open-age group for those who want to join a book club that meets at convenient and enjoyable locations around the St George or Sutherland Shire about once a month. Our typical member is 35+ , positive, friendly and intelligent, who loves to read, is prepared to participate in our discussions and enjoys good company. Members nominate books for selection and suggestions for venues are also always welcome. We choose to meet late mornings and try to make it first Sunday of each month as this seems to suit members who are busy during the week.
Membership is $15 per year collected in January or, within one month from joining for new members which covers the administration fee charged by Meetup.
We get to read different genres and all active members are encouraged to nominate the book of the month. Whoever has the nominated book selected also gets to set the questions - either before as a reading guide or brings these along on the day - easy!
So, what could be better than finding out about and enjoying a book that you would never have picked for yourself? And getting to meet and talk about it with positive and friendly people over lunch, coffee, brunch and maybe a glass of wine!
Please note general group rules:
1: A photo clearly identifying you is required
2. Annual member ship fee of $15 payable in January or within one month of joining
3. Only financial members will be moved from the waitlist to the active attending list each month
4. Non-financial members will be removed one month after fees due.
5. If you no-show to more than two meetups - you will be removed from the group. No-shows impact the venue's that we reserve and also members on waitlist, who are keen to attend.
