Iron Hill, Schellville Christmas Village, and The 19th Street Band
Details
PLEASE READ ALL AND CHECK BACK HERE FOR UPDATES DUE TO WEATHER ETC. If it's FRRRREEEEZING, wet, or windy, I probably won't be doing Schellville, but let's hope the above average temps hold on a while longer.
First, NO TICKETS REQUIRED THIS YEAR!
Hard to believe, but Schellville is open for the season already For those new to the area, this is probably one of the largest and most amazing Christmas Villages in the world. There are thousands of decorated trees, a skating rink, train rides, a tree maze, Delaware's only "mountain" for tube sledding, scores of decorated child sized homes, shops, and buildings of all kinds filled with play activities for kids, "Snow" every 30 minutes, live music, lots of food trucks, several bars and other places to imbive, over 20 local vendors, from crafts and jewelry to pet gifts, bake shops, and much more.
Let's meet and park (or try to at least) at Iron Hill Brewery at 5:00 for Happy Hour drinks and eats and then WALK over to Shellville. Again, this year tickets aren't required for admission, The lines should move more quickly without them.
Once we get in, people can choose to walk around and see the sights or try to find a spot to watch the 19th Street Band. They are popular on the East Coast and even in parts of Europe, have a couple of albums out, and have won awards and recognition. "Characterized by high energy and strong vocal harmonies, The 19th Street Band brings together a constellation of Americana, country, and rock, with a breath of fresh air. They ignite an audience with their passion for music. Caolaidhe (pronounced “Cally”) Davis (guitar/harmonica/vocalist) along with fiddle/mandolin/vocalist/partner-in-crime, Meghan Davis, create a joy-filled chemistry that no crowd can resist. Add to the mix the very talented Greg Hardin (bass/vocals) & Patty Dougherty (drums), and this band will have everyone enthralled. Bridging the musical roots from Ireland to the Appalachian, their eclectic gypsy-rock spirit literally leaps from the stage and engages every crowd.
