This event is always well attended for good reason. The Boston area's largest skate park is a great place to watch some pretty amazing athletes doing their thing in a well designed, high energy energy setting. We haven't been here since 2019 and it's time we returned. Photos from the first meetup here: https://4142298.xyz/BostonAreaPhotography/photos/26566465/444377804/ and from the 2017 meetup here: https://4142298.xyz/BostonAreaPhotography/photos/28167900/464583638/

I've chosen the last 2 hours before sunset (6:44) both for the quality of the light and potential for some colorful backgrounds, as well as because that time seems to be particularly active at the park. Speaking of active, if you want to get beyond the fence (not a shooting obstacle) and into the park itself where all the good stuff is happening, it's critical that you focus on "situational awareness". This is a serious matter of personal safety as there are skateboards (and sometimes skateboarders) randomly flying through the air from every direction. If you haven't already mastered the technique, start practicing shooting with both eyes open!

Gear: For glass, I'd suggest something wide as well as something a bit longer, say a 24-70 mm. Keep in mind the park is under the highway and therefore in shade (except for closer to sunset when the low, directional light fills the place). In addition, you'll be shooting subjects in shade with a bright background so bring a flash (or two) if you have one. A tripod could also come in handy.

Let's meet at the Education Street side of the park. Green Line to Science Museum or plenty of parking at the Museum of Science directly across the street from North Point Park. Less expensive parking can be found at the Cambridgeside Galleria about a 10 minute walk away.
