Our Communities
Boston Indies
Boston Indies is a community of independent game developers in Massachusetts supporting hobbyists, professionals, artists, academics, and anyone else interested in the craft of game creation.
Our goals are to:
• Foster a sense of community among Boston’s independent game creators.
• Encourage creating games independent of large budgets and major corporations.
• Serve as a brain trust among local independent developers and create a positive environment for learning and getting critical feedback
We are completely agnostic with respect to technology, development platform, game type, and scope of game development. As long as you show up with an open mind, helpful attitude, and you are committed to making your own games, on your own terms, you are welcome to join us.
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Field Trip to Level99Level99, Natick , MA
Boston Games Club is hosting a field trip to Level99 Natick! If you aren't familiar, Level99 is a social gaming playground with more than 50 real-world physical and mental challenges and games. Each time you win a game you level up. There's a tasty restaurant and bar (Night Shift) in the back. It's a blast!
Feel free to show up and play games on your schedule but you'll want a group to play with - many games are best with multiple people! For folks that want a more coordinated approach, let's buy tickets for 7:00pm and plan to meet up at 6:45pm in front of Level99 to coordinate groups of players. Discussion will be free-form and self-organizing and take place in the restaurant area.
What to expect:
- Play games at your own pace
- Grab food and drink with other game devs
- Talk about the games you played and how we can learn from them for our own game dev process!
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased here. I recommend purchasing them in advance so you don't have to wait in line to get in. Food and drink menu here.
Boston Games Club can be found on the Boston GameDev Slack in the #games-club channel. We play one game every two months and then discuss it from the lens of a game developer.
