Morality Matters

About the Talk:
For millennia the subject of morality has been monopolized by either religion or philosophy. That is about to change. In this presentation I will show you how.

Since the enlightenment Homo Sapiens have developed the scientific method to investigate once vague cosmic questions like, "Why are we here?", "What is the meaning of life?", "How did it all begin?", and "Who am I?" We’ve discovered foundational truth like the Big Bang, The Theory of Evolution, Abiogenesis, cladistics and many more. The evidence that demonstrates the truth of these scientific theories is iron clad. The best possible. It's through that high quality evidence that we can now draw sound conclusions.

Now it is time for a scientific theory of morality that takes into account all the evidence we have accumulated, and provides us with concrete answers.

In order to accomplish this, we need to do with morality what we have done with all humanity's puzzles, we need to make a science out of it. In this presentation I will show you how. I'll demonstrate that morality is a science, that it can be subjected to the scientific method, and that, through peer review, we can come to sound moral conclusions. Please join me.

About Paul Schilling:
My name is Paul Schilling. I am a science communicator and am currently writing a book on how and why humanity should make a science of morality. I am a humanist and a skeptic. I believe the theories of science and incorporate them into my worldview. I have been studying morality for the past eight years in preparation for my book.
