Details
TYPE: Same Time, Same Place Monthly | PACE: Fitness/Conversational | TERRAIN: Packed dirt multi-use path, sidewalks, and dirt trail | DISTANCE: Approx. 4 or 5 miles
Walk Description: This fitness walk is held the second Tuesday of every month; beginning and ending at Foothills Community Park near the restrooms and the dog park, going south along multi-use paths onto sidewalks in the Wonderland Hills neighborhood, and looping back north on the Foothills Trail, taking a short side trip (less than a mile) on the Old Kiln Trail. Along the way, hikers will see some beautiful views of Wonderland Lake, the foothills, and the eastern plains. The route includes gentle hills, with little, but some, elevation gain.
Lorrie Johnson has been leading walks and hikes with the Boulder Ramblers since 2017.
Schedule and Planning: There are two parking lots at Foothills Community Park: We will meet at the parking lot near the restrooms adjacent to the dog park on 7th Street. This walk is also accessible by the SKIP bus, which stops at Broadway and Violet; the Park is a few blocks west of Broadway. We'll meet at 9:00 am and begin walking at 9:05. The walk will end by 10:45 or 11:00 am.
Trip Notes:
~ Be sure to bring water, sun protection, and wear appropriate clothing for the season. For winter walking, wear breathable layers, a hat, and bring non-slip shoe cleats or wear boots with good traction.
~ Dogs on short, non-retractable leashes are welcome.
