Details
We would like to welcome you for our next BrabantPHP meetup. This meetup will take place in Tilburg at Freshheads.
Starting time: 19:00 (with food). You can arrive earlier (18:00) and use the Freshheads office as working place or just have a drink.
Talk - The power of auto-review tests - Gert de Pagter
Discover the power of auto-review tests and how they can reduce what you need to check during code review process.
In this talk, you'll learn what auto-review tests are, how to create and maintain them, and see real-world examples of their application. By the end, you'll understand the advantages they bring, including increased efficiency, consistency, and reduced manual effort in code reviews
Gert is a software engineer at Tactiplan, where he focuses on writing maintainable code, and improving the quality of the code base ever day.
Talk - What I learned about testing - Jelrik van Hal
We all have automated tests. Right? Right?!
Anyway. This talk is not an introduction to tooling like PHPUnit or PEST. You will not learn how to write your very first tests using Cypress. Instead, we will tweak your tests and testsuite little by little.
I'll share my top insights I've found over the years. For example, we will touch upon what is valuable to test; when it is effective to test; how you can structure your tests for optimized understanding; and how you can prove that your tests are valuable. What I hope you will take away are these small ideas that take your automated testing to the next level.
Jelrik is an experienced software engineer, and has been turning tea into code professionally since 2005. He is most interested in automated quality control: how do we know and prove that our software works and will keep working, even when we continuously grow it even further? Some keywords that he uses in his daily work are domain driven design, continuous delivery, liberating structures, mob programming, and trunk-based development.

Contribute
Meetup.com is becoming more expensive every few years (currently $175 per year). Because I am paying everything myself it's becoming quite an expensive hobby. I'm opening a "Tikkie" such that you are able to donate a little bit of money such that I can keep on organizing these events without spending too much money on this myself. I will report about the money gathered in every mailing and will donate excessive remaining amounts to the PHP foundation. You can donate here: https://tikkie.me/pay/b892g0b6u5mkuf6nv345 and remember that the BrabantPHP remain free of charge and that this is only a voluntary donation.
