London Urban Walk (incl. free Science museum walk) 8-9 miles
Details
Hi everyone, I was thinking of putting on a walk with a twist…..Instead of rambling around the Sussex countryside, a walk around the sights and parks of London on a Sunday when it’s generally quiet. Also linking it in with a trip to the Kensington science museum which is free and a fabulous museum with space exhibits etc. Maybe stopping for an hour to an hour and half there for lunch.
All in should be a good day to take advantage of some good September weather (if last year was to go by) and bringing packed lunch to keep the cost down. Cost wise would be just the same as having a pub lunch in Sussex with the cheap off peak rail fare, about £20 from Brighton.
You have to book free tickets on the science museum website - https://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/see-and-do/welcome
If I get good interest I’ll work out a 8-9 mile ish route from Victoria (and walking back there) to go around the landmarks and plan times / carriage to meet on the train (I’d be getting on at Haywards Heath). Seeing as my plan is to go towards Kensington way for the science museum, it makes sense to go through lots of Hyde park and the serpentine lake, then near Albert Hall. But we can go through as many parks as possible like Green Park, St James’ and take in London history and monuments.
Thoughts and comments? Happy to change the dates to accommodate more interest / availability.
