In 2024 Brighton Outdoor Society will walk alongside the five major rivers in Sussex.

Our final river, the Rother, flows for 35 miles through the English counties of East Sussex and Kent. Its source is near Rotherfield in East Sussex, and its mouth is on Rye Bay, part of the English Channel.

This fifth and final part is a 7 mile circular walk following the Rother river from Rye to the sea at Camber Sands and back to.Rye. We’ll have a picnic lunch on the way. On reaching Rye we’ll grab a drink at one of the many excellent pubs In the town or go for tea & cake at a tearoom. I will then reveal sone exciting plans for next year, before they are posted on Meetup!

We will meet outside the train station I n Rye at 10:50. I’ll be taking the train from Brighton at 08:56 changing at Eastbourne to get to Rye for 10:47. I expect to see most of you on the train. You may prefer to drive to Rye. Please be punctual as we will only wait for 10 minutes from 10:50 before leaving. The end time is only to provide a rough guide. On finishing the walk we can take a train back to Brighton along the coastal line.

Please bring and wear suitable clothing and footwear. Please also bring a packed lunch and water.

Dogs are welcome.
