Tonight, we are delighted to host Adrian Smith and his talk on Data Governance, followed by Jon Baggaley, long time friend of the meet up group presenting his talk on Surviving Corporate Culture as a Developer.

Talk 1:

Getting buy-in for a data management & governance programs can be hard.

This is a candid look at what can wrong when organisations do not take their Data Quality, Master Data Management, Security, Meta, and Ownership and Responsibility seriously.

Tonight Adrian will share a personal collection from over 20 years of experience in data, tales donated from colleagues, and famous cases you might not have made a connection with.

Bios:

Adrian Smith
Adrian has had a diverse career working for multiple financial institutions over the last two decades in both the private and public sectors. Taking on leadership and individual contributor roles, he has seen a huge amount of change – and a huge amount of failures!

Focusing on a strategic view of short-term delivery, long-term build, Adrian has been successful in designing and implementing multiple data strategies from delivering complex analytics to cloud re-platforming.

Jon Baggaley
Jon has been a Technical Architect for a variety of successful Financial companies over the years, building high-scale Enterprise systems that solve complex business issues. Jon is a big advocate of using innovative tools to improve system architecture and has always been the driving force for technical change and improvement in the companies he has worked with. In his spare time Jon is a passionate Sci-fi fan and Worthing based father of two children.

Doors open at 6:30m and Adrian will start his talk around 7pm
