Let’s snowshoe our way to adventure! Join us for an unforgettable 4-mile snowshoeing adventure in the stunning Sierra Nevada, led by our knowledgeable host, Arthur L.T. This journey will take you through the magical winter landscapes between Meiss Meadow Sno-Park at Carson Pass and Woods Lake in El Dorado National Forest.

The hike is approximately 4 miles round trip with a 400-foot elevation gain, making it a moderate yet rewarding experience.

We’ll begin by meeting at Meiss Meadow Sno-Park, carefully crossing Highway 88 before putting on our snowshoes and starting the trek. The route gently descends along Forest Service Road 10N01, Road APL122, and Woods Lake Road, taking us through snow-covered meadows and peaceful forest trails. After about two miles, we’ll reach Woods Lake, where we’ll enjoy a relaxing 30-minute lunch break by the water before retracing our steps uphill to the starting point.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, be sure to bring snowshoes, ski poles, a waterproof jacket and pants or gaiters, waterproof boots, and warm clothing made of wool or polypro (avoid cotton). Don’t forget essential items like sun protection (hat and sunglasses), plenty of water, electrolytes, snacks, a small lunch, something waterproof to sit on during lunch, a first aid kit, and a charged cell phone for emergencies.

If you don’t own snowshoes, they can be rented at participating REI locations for around $20, or at Land Park Ski & Sports. Be sure to rent them the day before the trip to avoid delays.

Carpooling is available, and those joining should meet Arthur at 7:30 AM at the Sunrise Park & Ride in Rancho Cordova (11164 Folsom Blvd, Rancho Cordova, CA 95742). Passengers are kindly asked to contribute $15 to their driver for gas and parking.

For those driving directly to the trailhead, plan to arrive by 9:45 AM at Meiss Meadow Sno-Park, located on the north side of Highway 88 near Carson Pass. The park can be found using the address M2W5+G8, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150, or the GPS coordinates 38.696537, -119.991721.

Since cell phone reception may be limited at the trailhead, download and print driving directions in advance from your home or the Sunrise Park & Ride.

This is a Members ONLY event. This event is open to members of Sacramento Singles Adventures, Bucket of Adventures and Sacramento Singles. Please ensure your membership fee is current to join us.
