Philly Christmas Light Exploration
Details
This is an extremely popular event. The walk will be limited to a small group size to minimize wait times at each of the stops. Please only sign up if you are certain that you can attend. That being said, don't fear the waitlist - people will drop and I will probably bump up the group size if I see extraordinary demand.
You must be able to keep up with the group and not stray as we will be on a strict time table.
This will be a 5-6 mile moderately paced photo walk taking us through Old City, Center City and South Philly. Along the way we'll stop and enjoy the light shows at Franklin Square, along Market Street, City Hall, Dilworth Park, Rittenhouse, and the Miracle on 13th Street. NOTE: We will be taking the Broad Street Line subway to get from Center City to the Miracle on 13th Street. ($2.50 cash or credit).
We will begin introductions outside the Market Street entrance to the Independence Visitor Center (corner of Market and 6th) at 4:00pm. Rest Rooms available in Visitor Center. Please note that we will start introductions at 4:00 pm, so plan to be there early.
I'll be taking the 2:28 train from the Woodbourne Station on the West Trenton SEPTA Line arriving at Jefferson Station at 3:25. It is a 15 minute walk to Independence Visitor Center from there. If we finish early, I will catch the 7:26 train back, otherwise there is a train at 8:26.
Members of all skill levels, whether using an iPhone or DSLR, will have many opportunities for photos while on this walk.
Remember to dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring a snack and water.
Steady rain cancels event. Update will be posted in Meetup by noon the day of the event.
If you sign up for this event and your plans change, Please remember to update your RSVP in Meetup.
