Practice and Talk Meeting - Topic: "The Color Gold"

Details

Come and join our transformative Practice and Talk Meeting, where you can deepen your spiritual journey and connect with a supportive community, with one of Connecticut's most well-known Buddhist teachers, Rev. D. Senpai, M.A. In our meetings, we uniquely blend the timeless wisdom of classic Buddhism with the compassionate teachings of Shin Buddhism (aka Buddhism of the Heart).

This distinctive fusion offers a comprehensive approach to immerse yourself in the Buddhist teachings (dharma), engage in meaningful readings and discussions, practice deep hearing, voice the Nembutsu, and cultivate mindfulness in a nurturing group setting. We are open to the general public, first-timers, and seasoned practitioners.

Attending offers numerous outcomes:

  • Holistic Spiritual Growth: Integrate the foundational principles of classic Buddhism with the accessible, liberating, and heart-centered teachings of Shin Buddhism.
  • Community Support: Connect with like-minded people who share your spiritual interests and provide mutual encouragement.
  • Meditation Practice: Participate in silent sitting and voice meditation that help cultivate inner peace and mindfulness.
  • Practical Application: Learn practical techniques for dealing with stress, anxiety, and other everyday challenges through Buddhist teachings, fostering resilience and tranquility of mind.
  • Inspiration and Motivation: Leave feeling inspired and motivated to continue your spiritual journey in the growing awareness of being embraced by Great Compassion, just as you are.

This week, we will be exploring the Rev. (Dr.) Taitetsu Unno’s modern classic, “River of Fire, River of Water”. Visit our Meetup.com or Facebook groups to learn about the chapter to be discussed; the chapter will be named in the title of the event’s announcement. Also, you can click on our web site’s CONNECT tab, to sign-up for our newsletter. Remember, you don’t need to read anything to attend and enjoy the meeting.

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you give yourself time to arrive in-person before the 9 a.m. meeting.

Our Location: Our location is unequaled in Connecticut, which includes an authentic Zen garden and a traditional Japanese tatami room.

Parking: Limited parking on Washington Terrace but there is plenty on Mt. Vernon Street which is the side street, next to the center.

Meeting Rules: In order to maintain a harmonious and respectful environment, practice kind speech, be courteous, and abstain from talking about current politics or display or wear political or offensive symbols or imagery. Those unable to follow these rules will be asked to promptly leave.

Suggested Donation: $10 -$15 (cash or check) to help cover costs for our Wesleyan expenses, internet services, our extensive outreach efforts, Meetup, and standard operating costs. Checks are payable to BFF of CT. Thank you in advance for your generous support.
