Wheelmen Special Ride - Kenosha Bound - 61 Miles

Details

Welcome to one of the Wheelmen's annual special rides - Kenosh Bound. The ride comes with three distance options (89, 61, and 37 miles). Each comes with a different start time and start location. RSVP for this Meetup posting only if you are planning to do the 61-mile route.

Here is the detailed info for the ride:

  • START TIME / LOCATION: 8:30 AM at Old School Forest Preserve, Libertyville IL for the 61-mile option. Be prepared to show up earlier if you need time to prepare before the ride.
    ͏
  • ROUTE: Here is a Google Maps link for the 61-mile route.
It is a paved road route. A road bike is highly recommended. Hybrid/gravel/cross bikes are welcome, just be prepared to ride at the advertised speed for the duration.

For turn-by-turn directions on your bike computer, become a member of the Wheelmen bike club to access and download the route from our route library. Click here to join our club.

Current Wheelmen Club members can access the turn-by-turn GPS routes here: 61 miles.
  • PACE: There may be different pace groups with 15 to 17 mph and 18 to 19 mph on average.
Be prepared to roll at two to three miles above the speed of the pace group. The final average will be the targeted speed after stops and slowdowns for traffic signs‍.

If you are new, make sure to let the host know who you are so he can keep an eye out for you and make sure you won't get lost.
  • REST STOP: Kenosha. We will stop for lunch. There will be many food establishments to choose from.
