Kyoto Riichi Mahjong for beginners *No gambling! ＼(^o^)／

The game starts at 7:00PM (we open around 6:30PM).

*Please be on time so that other players don’t have to wait to play

*Please try to not cancel right before the event starts!

*There is no gambling or smoking!

*Is this your first event? For new players, I reconfirm your intention to participate by sending you a direct message (DM) on meetup.com. If I don't get a reply (I ask a few questions to gauge where you're at, experience-wise) then please understand that you will be asked to observe the first session. (A lot of times when I don't get a reply, the person doesn't actually come which causes a problem for other players!)

So, why am I doing this event? Because I, the organizer, am addicted to Riichi Mahjong and want to SHARE THIS FUN with people! :)

I'm sorry but this is NOT a Mahjong class.

Let's enjoy chatting/drinking/playing mahjong with nice people!
If you plan to participate in this event, please at least study the basic rules and hands of Mahjong (winning condition) by playing a free online Mahjong game (like “Mahjong soul” or "Riichi City" or so) beforehand as much as possible.
Mahjong is difficult to play if you don't know the rules or anything about it, so! :)

★For advanced Japanese mahjong players

This event is designed to provide a welcoming space for people who may not be fluent in Japanese or who feel hesitant about visiting a traditional mahjong parlor (雀荘) but are interested in experiencing Japanese mahjong. While it may be easier for Japanese locals to visit mahjong parlors regularly, many foreigners find it more intimidating. Therefore, this event prioritizes participation for such individuals to make it more accessible for them.
