What we’re about
We are a group of mahjong afficionados who meet regularly to play (or learn to play) this wonderful Chinese game. We usually play a variation of Cantonese mahjong but we are open to playing other styles, too, like Riichi (Japanese mahjong) or Maajh (American mahjong) if there is interest among the members and there is somebody to teach us other styles.

Everyone is welcome, both experienced and novice players. For beginners, we will focus on the basics (the chicken hand) and as players become more accustomed to the game, we will look at how to score more points. A great thing about mahjong for me is that you can handicap certain players so that a novice player has just as much chance of getting a winning hand as a mahjong professional. So if you are new to the game, do not despair!
Membership in this group is free and there is no cost to play. However, we may ask for contributions from time to time to help with the Meetup fees.
