What we’re about
We meet bi-weekly with one meeting being online where we welcome people from further afield and sometimes have educational sessions and then hybrid which allows in person practice and people to join over Zoom.
We are a local club of Toastmasters International, a world leader in communication and leadership development. Our toastmaster group has been established for over 15 years in the heart of Cambridge and we draw on the resources and experience of an organisation that unites over 280,000 people in over 10,000 clubs across 116 countries.
Every Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which all participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in an exceptionally supportive atmosphere.
There is no instructor in a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, we evaluate one another’s presentations. This feedback process is a key part of the programme’s success. Club members also give impromptu talks on assigned topics, chair meetings and develop skills. There is a great sense of communal support, and everybody progresses at their own pace.
Visiting our club meetings is free and without any obligation. If you feel game you may also take part in our impromptu speeches. Be assured that visitors are always very welcome, at any of our meetings. Experience for yourself the practical way in which we learn to become better and more successful communicators. And meet our club members who include teachers, librarians, scientists, IT and business professionals. We are confident you will feel at ease in our friendly club environment.
