Saturday Queanbeyan walk - off leash frolics, river paddles
Details
Safe off-leash walking and cooling river paddles for our doggies, combined with country views and historic sites for the humans. What more could we want?
Our route:
• starts in the impressive public park between Riverside Plaza and the Queanbeyan River;
• wanders through Queanbeyan and Oaks Estate streets past interesting old cottages;
• follows a pretty off-leash track along the banks of the Molonglo and Queanbeyan rivers with several easy access points for cooling doggie paddles;
• passes the historic Queanbeyan Riverside Cemetery, the final resting place of the 'father of Canberra', John Gale; and
• finishes up with an optional coffee/brunch at the shady Mill House Cafe.
The off leash section (about 2 km) provides a safe, grassy area for well socialised dogs to have a run, play and paddle.
This is an easy walk of approx 6 km that could take up to 2 hours to complete with a group. You can see more details about the walk and a google map of the route on the Canberra Dog Walks website.
There's plenty of parking opposite the Riverside Plaza in Morisset Street and underground parking underneath the Plaza off Collett Street.
