What we’re about

This group is to encourage graduate engagement through meet ups throughout the DFW area. We would love any graduate team to join to work on training and socializing. Volunteers and puppy raisers are welcome to join, but we do ask that only graduate dogs be present in order to focus on the needs of graduates.

Group Rules:

  1. Graduate dogs only. We will be hosting events at various venues across DFW many of which are places of public accommodation. If your dog has not graduated with public access, we ask that you please leave them at home if you plan on attending an event at a venue of public accommodation. We will do our best to clearly state which venues are places of public accommodation. Please follow all instructions and guidelines for where you can and cannot bring your dog given to you by Canine Companions staff as the rules differ across the placement categories and setups.
  2. A reminder that these are Canine Companions service dogs as such we are require that all graduate follow all guidelines provided by Canine Companion. We intend to work primarily with graduates to maintain and perfect know skills. Any new skills people want help with should be pre-approved by the graduate department and trainers.
  3. Furthermore for any major problems your team may be experiencing, please reach out to the SCR graduate program. While we are here to give general advise and tips, we are NOT professional trainers and are NOT a substitution for the ongoing graduate support provided by Canine Companions.
  4. Please be kind to one another. We are all trying to do our best as service dog teams. Canine Companions has already determined the legitimate need for a service dog to be placed with each handler and it is not our place to question each other's disability or condition. Any such negativity will result in you being removed from the group and the incident reported to Canine Companions staff.
  5. For those joining the group as observers, please be respectful and as unobtrusive as possible. We welcome questions, but these events have been arranged to allow graduate teams to work on skills with the help and advice of fellow graduates. If observers become too disruptive to the group you will be removed and asked not to attend future gatherings.
  6. If you are a graduate who would like to host an event for the group please message the details to the organizers who can post the event for you.
  7. Overall we want to encourage graduates to feel welcome and learn from other teams. We want everyone to have fun and build relationships with other teams!💙
