What we’re about
Do you love bookclubs and wish more existed? Do you find yourself wanting to talk about the books you read with other people but not knowing enough book dragons in your circle (there are no worms around here)? Do you really enjoy exploring weird and wonderful topics through the realm of the written word? Then you're going to love Bookology.
You can join us in person if possible on Saturdays, for our in-person meetups. The topics for the bookclub will vary, and there is just an overarching theme, which means you can select any book that fits into the theme to read (poetry, short stories and essay collections are all acceptable).
Please note this bookclub is for all age levels and all reading levels, whether you just started reading the Harry Potter series, are a seasoned Jane Austen connoisseur or strictly read non-fictional books, because you only enjoy useful content, you are welcome.
The format for our bookclubs are as follows (please read):
10:00 am - 10:15 am: People arrive
10:15 am - 11:40 ish am We go in turns to discuss the book that we have each read in relation to the theme, and usually there is a separate question I ask that is also related to the theme, that you can answer. Every person has a chance to speak.
11:45ish It's a wrap
NB: We have a two no-show and you're out policy, this is simply because we cannot have people continually booking spots and not showing up. This especially prevents newcomers who would like to try and regulars who would like to show but don't want to take another's seat. So please manage your RSVPs appropriately.
If you enjoy lively debates and fun deep dives in a safe and inclusive space, as well as travelling to new restaurants all over beautiful Cape Town, then I encourage you to attend.
