If you're looking for a little more isolation from the very popular east side of Catoctin Mountain Park, come over to the less-traveled west side and enjoy a somewhat different landscape. Flatter, with lovely mountain streams flowing through the landscape. An added bonus, NO HUNTING in a national park. I will still wear orange.

I have hiked through here a couple of times. I usually grab the Catoctin Trail and circle around. I know it is 6 miles, could be more. However the trails are easily navigated.

I may need to search around a bit to locate our trail. I have a map. That is comforting!!

I hike at 2mph's (or less) and stop for photos, flora and fauna. Always check site before leaving your home to insure the hike is on! I usually check the weather the day before and update you, especially if the weather is iffy. Please bring water, snack, lunch, tick spray! Ticks are active at 40 degrees and above. Dress appropriately. I will have my trekking poles, as usual. 443-798-5562 if you are late of lost. Um, since we are in the mountains, will we have cell service? Some may, some may not. So, know where you are going!

Please carpool if you can. There are many Park and Rides in the area. Carpooling is good for the environment and company during a drive is great! Put in comments if you willing to carpool and where.
