We will launch from Allison Creek boat ramp at 3:00 and paddle downstream for 3 miles and then up Little Allison Creek to the sandbar, then paddle back toward our put-in. Along the way, at about 6:15, we should have a lovely view of the full moon rising across the lake, after having a lovely view of the sunset. We’ll take a break or two on some of the numerous beaches to snack and stretch our legs. If some folks want to stay out and paddle under the full moon for a bit, that is fine, but we will pass the ramp at about 7:30 for those who want to head home. The actual planned paddle is 10-11 miles, in open water but not the main channel. 12’ or longer hard boats are needed for this event, with bowlines, PFD, and lights. Spare paddle and bilge pump are highly recommended, along with a change of clothes in a drybag. If you have never paddled at night, this is a great chance to try it out, and see how serene it is. As always, PFD must be worn, and dress for the weather as it may be cool at night. The water is still pleasantly warm. Cruisers and their guests are welcome to attend, most any skill level should be fine. If you have questions or need to borrow equipment just let me know.
PS: There is a small fee to enter Allison Creek Park unless you have an annual pass, so if anyone wants to meet at my house right outside the park and consolidate vehicles, just let me know.
