What we’re about

Catholicism was started by Jesus Christ. "Catholic" just means "universal," as God revealed himself for the sake of all humanity: to save us from ourselves, both spiritually and physically. It is rich with 2000 years of tradition, sacraments, the Mass, the saints, Mary, & Scripture. Although a good portion of the bible is covered during the 3-year cycle of Mass readings, every story or passage has exciting layers to peel away - kind of like an archeological dig. Did you know that Mary is the fulfillment of the Old Testament's "Ark of the Covenant," and that she is the woman whose seed would crush the head of the serpent, as God promised in Genesis 3? Do you know why Jesus didn't drink the traditional 3rd cup of wine at the Passover Meal/Last Supper? Do you know that Christ's sacrifice did not end on the cross - nor with the Resurrection - but with his Ascension when he took his humanity with him back into the Trinity? Did you know that the most central belief in Christianity is the Trinity?

Our group is open to all Catholics or non-Catholics - we have Protestant and former Protestant members as well - who are seeking to deepen their relationship with God through the Church that Christ initiated and launched through Apostolic teachings and traditions.

We spend one hour each week (Tues 7-8 PM, in person and on Zoom). We spend two weeks each month on Scriptural passages and working our way through the Bible, and two weeks on topics requested by you, such as: Why are we here and where are we going? What is free will? Why is there suffering? Why is there injustice? How can we love others (let alone our enemies) if we don't love ourselves? What is the value of prayer? What are the meaning and Scriptural roots of Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell - and what happens there?

This is a speaker-style study where Ron helps provide the weekly content and assists with the answers to every question.

🕰️ Bible Studies on Tuesdays starting at 7pm (EST).

Taylor Maley is the Event Organizer.

Ron Hallagan is the Content Organizer. After ten years in the intellectual desert of atheism, logic brought him back to the precipice of God, and a leap of faith brought him eventually back to Catholicism by way of Eastern religions, Judaism, and Protestantism. He is certified in Catholic Theology, Catholic Philosophy, and Catholic Apologetics, and has been teaching Bible study to adults, children, and Catholics behind bars (not bartenders) for over ten years. He runs a business in Northern Virginia/Maryland, and has an incredible, grown-up family, including the Event Organizer.
